Temple Judea of Manhasset is located at 333 Searingtown Road. This synagogue and religion school was founded in 1955. It offers Saturday morning religious services, Friday night Shabbat and a regular schedule of classes and events for youth and adults. Temple Judea also operates the Holocaust Research Center. St. Aidan’s church at 505 Willis Avenue can be reached at 516-746-6585. This Roman Catholic institution is part of the Diocese of Rockville Centre. It offers three daily liturgies on Monday through Saturday, five liturgies on Sunday and multiple masses on holidays such as Easter, Christmas, Ash Wednesday and Palm Sunday. St. Aidan’s also provides religion classes for adults and children.

The mastermind behind the Searingtown Virtual Library is Karen Kliegman. Ms. Kliegman is currently employed as a certified library media and educational technology specialist at Searingtown School. She has many degrees and awards related to the work she has done on this site.

The Virtual Library was created for students in the Herricks School District, but is accessible to people all over the world. Created in 2010, this site was intended as a place where students could go to gather any and all resources needed for school projects, or just to read a book. Students in the school district are able to take out NOOK’s and read e-books. The schools also have iPads for students to use, in order to stay current with the virtual world.

The Searingtown Virtual Library has blog spots for parents, teachers and other librarians. The librarian blog won Ms. Kliegman an award as well. Additionally, visitors to this site have the ability to view all of the places in the world other visitors are. For example, the site uses clustrmaps to show where everyone is located that has visited the site. Most of the visitors are from the United States, but there have been visitors from as far away as Australia.

The Virtual Library has everything a student needs as far as resources for every major subject, tutorials to learn how to use different parts of the site and even a teaching area for the parents. For people who don’t have experience on the Internet, there’s even a tab to teach parents about the Internet and kid-friendly games that are on the Internet. The Virtual Library is accessible from school and from home.
